How many minutes do you install and straighten the vise on the milling machine?
The vise should be the most widely used fixture in the world. High versatility, affordable price, and complete style and size. For the tools that often deal with us, with the accumulation of experience, some of the necessary installation processes will be significantly accelerated.
Installation and alignment work needs to be prepared in advance, because in most workshops, these things usually appear in different locations.
For example, the brush used to clean the chips may be in the place you can see, but the anti-rust oil needs you to spend some time looking for it in the workshop...
So in order to work efficiently, you need to find everything in advance, and when you need it, you can get it easily, instead of wasting your debugging time on finding tools.
When cleaning the machine, protective gloves are necessary. The chips in the machine are sharp and the coolant is easy to slip. It is easy to have a safety accident without gloves.

After the tools are ready and the machine's workbench is cleaned up, we will start today's highlights and straighten the vise.
If it is not very, very lucky, we will put the vise directly on the machine table, which is likely to be embarrassing, which requires us to adjust the position of the vise. Some vise needs two bolts to fix, and some need four platens to fix. Although the fixing method is different, the principle of adjustment is basically the same.
First, slightly lock the two bolts/plates on the left and right, then loosen one of them.
Then use the calibration table to lean on the side where the bolt is locked, and move the Y-axis with the hand wheel. After confirming that the ball head portion of the school table is in contact with the jaw of the vise, adjust the dial of the school meter to give the pointer of the school meter. Point to "0".
Then shake the handwheel to move the X-axis. During the movement, if you see the reading getting bigger and bigger, and it is likely to exceed the travel of the school meter, you can move it while using a rubber hammer to hit the vise near the handle. , adjust the position of the vise. If the readings get smaller and smaller, don't worry, you can make adjustments while moving to the other side of the jaws.
Repeat the above 2 steps until the meter reads the same on both sides of the jaws.
Finally, tighten all the bolts/platens and make the last measurement to confirm that the vise is still straight after locking.
